RESONANCES 01/ Colonial persistence, narrative resistance: Revisiting my experience working in education at a museum in Quito

By Alejandro Cevallos N.

RESONANCES OPEN SESSIONS / ANOTHER ROADMAP

Between 2021 and 2023, I worked as the coordinator of a history museum in Quito, a city marked by a persistent colonial legacy. If coloniality erases, devalues, and denies ways of thinking and narrating oneself, educational work in a museum is challenged to work on narratives from the subplots, to create conditions for enunciation and re-identification. But what are the conditions, contradictions, and complexities of this movement? From my experience, between frustration and hope, I would like to share some provisional reflections on educational work in this debate.
